Geraldine Heffernan Named Principal of Mater Dei Academy


Ms. Geraldine Heffernan has been named the first Principal of Mater Dei Academy in Cork by the school’s Board of Trustees.

Ms. Heffernan completed her bachelor's degree with joint honors in Irish and French from University College Cork (UCC) in 1994. She subsequently completed her Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics in 1996. She also holds a Higher Diploma in Television Production from Waterford Institute of Technology and the CAPES Diploma from the Université de Rennes II in France.

Ms. Heffernan taught in both Ireland and France before becoming a television director and producer with Nemeton TV in County Waterford, producing a number of Irish language documentaries.

Before joining Mater Dei Academy, Ms. Heffernan taught Irish and French at Saint Augustine's College in Dungarvan, County Waterford.
